Sustainable Food Systems Lecture At SALA Thursday Night!

ENVIRONMENTAL News:

Morgan Apperson, a public speaker for sustainable food systems, will be bringing her powerful
lecture to Los Alamos 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb 23 at SALA Event Center.

Apperson’s background is in environmental Chemistry with an M.S. in Sustainability, which she uses to analyze and share the most extensive studies published in our scientific literature regarding the impacts of our food system. Her message urges communities to shift towards plant based eating to have any fighting chance against climate change, food insecurity, and social justice issues.

Many have referenced this lecture as the talk that will change the world by empowering individuals to make significant positive impacts through our dietary choices. Morgan provides a sustainable outlet for our food system that’s economically better, environmentally benign, uplifts communities, and considers the welfare of all.

Apperson states that “In a world where we have little control, we ironically have substantial power in what we choose to eat three times a day, cascading into impacts on a global scale. We have the ability to create the future of tomorrow just by what we buy from the grocery store. Explore the literature on solutions in building a sustainable food system with me this Thursday!”

After graduating from RIT, Morgan traveled the East Coast, spreading her message at Universities and environmental events.

Having grown up in Los Alamos, she’s honored to bring this important talk to her home state to inspire the community that instilled environmental values in her as a young child.

Natural Grocers and the Co+op also will be joining Apperson with samples and resources on where to find sustainable food options in Los Alamos.
