Student Musicale At Crossroads Church Sunday

MUSIC News:

Enjoy a free recital of Los Alamos students at 2 p.m., Sunday at Crossroads Church. The performers range in age from six through 16 and will be performing works from the Baroque, Classic, Romantic, and Modern musical eras.

The Sunday Musicales are regular presentations by the Los Alamos Music Teachers Association (LAMTA), presented in fall and spring terms for the public’s enjoyment and as performance opportunities for students dedicated to private study and advancement on their instrument. The concert is presented without intermission, and will last one hour. A reception follows in the lobby and the audience is invited.

The 18 performers are: Irene Abfalterer, age 13; Julia Chen, age 12; Joseph Dale, age 9; William Dale, age 11; Jennie Gao, age 12; Benjamin Guo, age 6; Jaden Harden, age 12; Megan Harden, age 10; Phillip Ionkov, age 12; Yunseo Kim, age 12; Ming-Yuan Lo, age 11; Fayrouz Mourad, age 10; Anya Palmer, age 16; Evan Strohmeyer, age 8; Lilia Vitev, age 7; Lucas Yeager, age 10; and Emily Xu, age 8, all performing piano solos from memory. The sole string performer is Rose Click, age 16, performing on the contrabass and accompanied by Alicia Solomon.

LAMTA is the local area affiliate of the State Professional Music Teachers of NM (PMTNM) and the national, Music Teachers National Association (MTNA), professional music accrediting organizations for Independent Music Teachers and College Music Faculty. All performers in the Sunday Musicale are students of teachers who are professional members of all three organizations and who also hold professional music degrees, ranging from the baccalaureate through the doctorate.

Students for this recital represent Los Alamos teachers Gina Doorn, Wendy Gee, Juanita Madland, Ellen Scudder, Janna Warren, and Madeline Williamson. 

Although Musicales are always Free to the public, donations of any amount are gladly accepted and go towards supporting ongoing enrichment activities conducted on behalf of students by the LAMTA.  LAMTA is a non-profit 501-(c-3) organization with the mission of furthering the art of music teaching and programs that encourage and support music study and appreciation for students and their community.
