The members of Straight No Chaser, an A Capella chorus, will bring the holiday cheer with their Holiday Road tour at 7 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 16, at the Kiva Auditorium in Albuquerque.
Their show at the Kiva Auditorium will feature music from their 14-track album which hosts the likes of Hunter Hayes, Mickey Guyton and more. You’ll swoon through songs like, “Holiday Road,” “Someday at Christmas,” “Blue Christmas,” “It’s the most wonderful time of the year.”
The SNC album Christmas Cheers features a song that may reside in the hearts of New Mexicans called, “Donde Esta Santa Clause” The song is in search of Santa and regalos on Christmas Eve. Is it possible that song comes out to play in the Land of Enchantment? It remains to be seen.
One thing for certain is that the crew hopes to do a variety of activities while in New Mexico. According to songster Steve Morgan, it may be a lot. “I know this is kitschy by now, but as a Breaking Bad fan, I love to get out and see what I recognize from the show,” Morgan said. “But I only eat the pizza, I don’t throw it on anyone’s roof! And as for culinary explorations, I try to find anything with Hatch green chiles.”
SNC has had a momentous year. This summer they toured with a 90s show, having an exciting time in the process. Earlier in the spring, they travelled to Southeast Asia for the first time, performing as part of the Java Jazz Festival in Jakarta and the Philippine International Jazz Festival in Manila. As we come upon Veteran’s Day next week, they saluted those in uniform, performing for US Navy families on three bases in Japan. Word has it that the experiences were incredible and there was a lot of sushi.
Rumor has it that biscochitos will be ready for their arrival, but food isn’t the only thing they love. “We love everything about performing in New Mexico,” Morgan said. “The audience is great, and because of the unique configuration of the Kiva Auditorium with its half-round seating, we are really able to see and feel the energy of everyone in the crowd.”
The Holiday Road tour has 62 shows scheduled between October and New Year’s Eve. If you can’t hear their golden, melodious tones in person, an on-line concert is within your reach. SNC will do a Holiday Road Livestream on Dec. 23 and tickets to the party are just $19.99.
