ART News:
Step Up Gallery at Mesa Public Library has put out a Call for Art for a very special exhibit it is planning. It’s a show of self-portraits. The show name is “Projection and Confession: Self-Portraits” and runs Sept. 18 to Oct. 18.
“We value local artists and would love to see and show distinctive self-portraits created by local and regional working artists in this exceptional exhibit,” Step Up Gallery said.
The full CFA and application can be downloaded at https://stepupgallery.org/call-for-art/.
This is not a juried show, but Step Up Gallery requests that only those with some experience and success with art creation apply. Just fill out the application and email it back to diane@stepupgallery.org to reserve a space for a self-portrait.
Step Up Gallery is accepting all media, both 2-D and 3-D, except photography. However, parts of photographs can be used in a collage as a final product. Artists working in clay are encouraged to apply.
Step Up Gallery will accept the first 50 applications. The cost is $10 to enter, and all cash collected will go to prize money to fund People’s Choice awards. Ten dollars is due when bringing accepted entries to Step Up Gallery at Mesa Public Library 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 13, or 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday, Sept. 15.
Step Up Gallery is looking for some really unique approaches to self-portraiture from some very unique artistic personalities.
