Albuquerque — Gov. Susana Martinez joined local business leaders to announce that JTIP created more than 2,000 jobs in 2017.
 
This brings the total amount of JTIP jobs created over the last seven years to nearly 10,000. The program also saw its second-highest average rural wage at more than $21 an hour.

FBI: Felon Prosecuted Under Federal ‘Worst Of The Worst’ Anti-Violence Initiative Gets 100 Months

ALBUQUERQUE – Jason M. Lutz, 39, of Albuquerque pled guilty today in federal court to violating the federal firearms laws by unlawfully possessing firearms and ammunition.

Under the terms of his plea agreement, Lutz will be sentenced to 100 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release. 

Lutz, whose prior criminal history includes convictions for conspiracy to commit kidnapping, distribution of methamphetamine and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, is being prosecuted under a federal anti-violence initiative that targets “the worst of the worst”

DOE/NNSA: B61-12 Meeting Qualification Test Schedule

DOE/NNSA News:

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Department of Energy’s National Nuclear Security Administration (DOE/NNSA) and U.S. Air Force completed two qualification flight tests of B61-12 gravity bombs August 8 at Tonopah Test Range in Nevada. 

The non-nuclear test assemblies, which were dropped from an F-15E based at Nellis Air Force Base, evaluated the weapon’s non-nuclear functions and the aircraft’s capability to deliver the weapon.

These tests are part of a series over the next three years to qualify the B61-12 for service. The first qualification flight test occurred in March. Read More

Santa Fe Community College and the Santa Fe Higher Education Center will close in observance of Labor Day Monday, Sept. 4.
 
All campus facilities at both locations will be closed. No classes or activities will be held and no other student services will be available. SFCC’s child development center, Kids Campus, and the William C. Witter Fitness Education Center also will be closed.
 
The SFCC main campus, 6401 Richards Ave., and the Santa Fe Higher Education Center, 1950 Siringo Road, will reopen Tuesday, Sept. 5.
