SANTA FE — New Mexico is taking a major step toward improving the financial and operational strength of rural health care providers, by establishing a statewide center for rural health sustainability and innovation.
The New Mexico Health Care Authority (HCA) has released a request for proposals to find a vendor for the Center for Rural Health Sustainability & Innovation that will provide technical assistance, shared services, and partnership support to rural, frontier and tribal health providers across the state. The center is a cornerstone initiative of the state’s Rural Health Transformation Program, which aims to support communities where health care access is most at risk.
“HCA is committed to building a more resilient and sustainable rural health system in New Mexico,” said Elisa Wrede, HCA acting rural health director. “We are creating a centralized resource to support providers, strengthen partnerships, and ensure that rural communities have access to the care they need.”
The selected contractor will deliver services including:
- Strategic and operational assistance to rural providers.
- Development of partnerships and shared service models to improve efficiency and healthcare access.
- Revenue cycle management, workforce strategies and operational improvement.
- Provider education, training and learning collaboratives.
- Data analytics support and coordination with the Rural Health Data Hub
- Stakeholder engagement and coordination across state agencies and community partners.
- Support for program monitoring, evaluation and federal reporting.
