From increased arrests of dangerous offenders to fewer vehicle crashes on New Mexico roads, the numbers show measurable improvements driven by the dedication and professionalism of our officers.

Between January and June 2025, NMSP officers have taken aggressive action to enhance public safety across the state:

  • Arrests: NMSP made 4,481 arrests in the first half of the year, a 10.70% increase compared to the same period in 2024.
  • Crashes: Thanks to proactive enforcement and targeted traffic operations, crashes dropped by 11.3%, with 2,395 incidents reported statewide. This includes a 21.95% decrease in fatal crashes, with 64 for the 2025 period, compared to 82 for the same period in 2024.
  • Commercial Vehicle Inspections: NMSP completed 48,429 inspections in the first six months of 2025. A 3.64% increase in inspections compared to the same period in 2024.

“These numbers reflect more than just statistics; they represent safer communities, lives saved on our roadways, and accountability for those who choose to break the law,” NMSP Chief Troy Weisler said. “I’m incredibly proud of our officers for the work they’re doing every day across New Mexico.”

New Mexico State Police remain committed to sustaining this momentum and continuing to deliver results for the people of New Mexico. As we enter the remainder of the year, our mission remains clear: protect and serve with courage, compassion, and integrity.
