State Police Arrest Valencia Teacher For Assaulting Student

The New Mexico State Police were called Thursday, Feb. 13 to investigate allegations of criminal sexual contact of a juvenile that occurred at Valencia High School in Los Lunas.

NMSP Investigations Bureau was called and assumed control of the investigation. Through an extensive investigation, State Police agents learned the female juvenile victim, who is a student at Valencia High School, was sexually assaulted by a teacher.

The juvenile disclosed she was in class when Lawrence Larson, 50, of Los Lunas touched her between her legs. The student left the classroom and walked to the weight room. Larson followed the student, took her to the ground and inappropriately touched the female student.

The student was able to fight off Larson and escape. 

Larson was arrested Friday, Feb. 14 without incident and charged with:

  • Criminal Sexual Contact of a Minor 3rd Degree Felony; and
  • False Imprisonment 4th Degree Felony.
