Staff Report

Several law enforcement agencies responded to the scene of a man wanted for a probation violation, who barricaded himself inside a Sierra de Los Pinos subdivision home Tuesday in the Jemez Mountains.

After an hours-long standoff, Sterling Bucholz, 35, who reportedly accosted a neighbor both Monday and Tuesday, ran from the house into the forest and was finally caught by a K-9 unit. Bucholz reportedly sustained minor injuries and was taken into custody around 10 p.m., Tuesday by Sandoval County sheriff’s deputies.

During the standoff, residents of Sierra de Los Pinos were asked to stay in their homes and given the all clear through reverse 911 when the situation was resolved.

New Mexico State Police, NMSP bomb team and the Albuquerque Police Department SWAT team worked with the sheriff’s office on the case.
