SANTA FE ― The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish is now accepting applications for special sandhill crane and pheasant permits.
Applications can be made online at the department’s website or over the telephone with the department’s information center, 1.888.248.6866. The application deadline for special sandhill crane and pheasant permits is 5 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 21.

Los Alamos Little League 9, 10 and 11 All Stars made it all the way to the semi finals during the state tournament in Clovis.
“The boys did a great job,” Los Alamos Little League President Magdalen Miller said. “They got fourth out of nine districts (during) the semifinals.”
She explained the team started playing Friday, July 12, against Enchantment Little League from Las Cruces. Los Alamos lost 9-4. This, Miller said, put the team in the “loser’s bracket.”

The 20th Annual Knights of Columbus Scholarship Golf Tournament was held June 22 at the Los Alamos County Golf Course.
Forty eight golfers participated in a four-person scramble to help raise money for graduating Los Alamos High School seniors from the class of 2020.

ACRR News: Cliff Stanley and Aurora Suazo, 9, tied for top predictor with a 12 second differential in the Atomic City Road Runners weekly pace race on the Los Alamos County Golf Course maintenance road.
Other accurate predictors are:
- Ryan Smeltzer with 16 seconds off and also best finisher in the 3 mile distance recording a 23:57;
- Mark Bjorklund with a 20 second difference;
- Ted Atkins with 27 seconds off; and
- Kathy Daly and Charles Ferenbaugh tied at 30 seconds.
