LARSO Hosts 8 Ball Pool Tournament Aug. 8

The Los Alamos Retired and Senior Organization (LARSO), which operates both the Los Alamos and White Rock senior centers, will host an 8 ball pool tournament during the Los Alamos County Fair and Rodeo. The tournament is 8 a.m. Friday, Aug. 8. There is a $5 fee and players of all ages are welcome and encouraged to participate. To register or for more information, call 505.672.9548 or 505.662.8920. CLOVIS ― The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish is seeking public comment on a draft Environmental Assessment (EA) for construction of the Clovis Wing-shooting Complex and Archery Range at Ned Houk Park.

This time last year I had stopped fishing most rivers and streams because of the low streamflows and warm water temperatures.

The trout were being heavily-stressed and even if you were practicing catch-and-release, the stress of being caught was often too much for the fish to take and they would die as a result.

There were fish kills on several sections of rivers. Over the border in Colorado, voluntary restrictions were in place because they too were suffering from the same conditions.

Roxana Candia and Duane Marr each had a 3 second differential from their predicted time to tie for best predictor in the weekly pace race held Tuesday across from the Laboratory ā€œSā€ Site. 
 
Candia also was the fastest female on the 3 mile paved course with a time of 28:42 and Marr was the fastest male on the 1 mile paved course at 20:29.
