Isaac often tells us about the things Zappy says and does. Sometimes Isaac even blames Zappy for the mischief he gets into. When I first got married, I knew the primary rule of marriage was that I was to be devoted to this one woman, alone, for the rest of my life. Of course, I was naïve about a lot of things.

A Memorial Service Celebrating the Life of Capt. USNR-Retired Douglas Ward Lier will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 14 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 2390 North Road. Interment will be in the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
Capt. Lier was longtime Los Alamos resident, athlete and community volunteer who died March 26 from renal cancer. He was nearly 85 years old.

Hundreds of children raced through the Los Alamos Golf Course during Sunday’s annual Easter Eggstravaganza.
Egg hunters got their picture taken with the Easter bunny, played in the bounce houses, participated in arts and crafts and ate popcorn, sno cones, hamburgers and hot dogs.
The Los Alamos Golf Association and New Beginnings Church sponsored the community-wide event.

Tiny tiger Linnea Stange and mom Sy Stange were at the Jewish Center Wednesday for a party prior to the annual Purim Service. Purim is one of the most joyous and fun holidays on the Jewish calendar. It commemorates a time when the Jewish people living in Persia were saved from extermination. The Purim story is told in the Book of Esther, which is read during the Purim Service. Esther, the Jewish queen married to the king of Persia saves her people from extermination at the hand of the scheming counselor Hamin. It is customary to hold carnival-like celebrations on Purim.
