Fat Biking
Southwest Colorado is one of the most popular mountain biking destinations in the country, and there’s no reason to give up the sport when the snow flies thanks to fat biking. Phil’s World trail system boasts 60 miles of trails, as well as spectacular views of the Sleeping Ute, La Plata, and is a good choice for novice or experienced riders.
Skiing, Snowshoeing & Snowmobiling
There are three downhill ski areas near Mesa Verde Country – Telluride, Hesperus and Purgatory – making Mesa Verde Country a great base camp option for downhill adventure. Off-slope adventures include cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling.
Hiking & Horseback Riding
Boasting warmer temperatures than most mountain areas, many of the trails in Mesa Verde Country are free of snow after a little sunshine – perfect for hiking and exploring the countless ancient sites located throughout the region. Golfing
Golf is a (nearly) four-season activity in Mesa Verde Country. From March-November, golfers can tee-off at the Conquistador Golf Course, a USGA-sanctioned par 72, 18-hole public course. The course sits at 6,200 feet with spectacular views of Mesa Verde, the La Plata Mountains and the Sleeping Ute Mountain.
