Six Los Alamos High School (LAHS) students attended the 2025 American Indian Senior Day on Oct. 29 at the University of New Mexico main campus in Albuquerque. Students participated in an admissions application workshop where they learned about the application process, requirements and steps for submitting an application, followed by an overview of financial aid opportunities, including information on where and how to find scholarships.

There was also a panel discussion in which three Native American students talked about the challenges they faced and how they succeeded during their first year as a UNM student. The day also featured an informational fair featuring over thirty campus resource representatives, each hosting booths for students to explore.

Students were also treated to a guided campus tour and complimentary lunch, offering them a first-hand look at campus life and the broader community.

LAPS Native American Student Support Specialist Jovita Mowrer would like to thank UNM American Indian Student Services for coordinating this event and providing opportunities that empower our Native American students. She also thanks LAHS teacher Lawrence Wilson for chaperoning the group.
