Sipapu Resort Makes Ski History Today

Sipapu Resort opened for the season today – making ski history in opening nearly a month ahead of its usual schedule. Sipapu is recognized for having the longest ski season in New Mexico, being the first to open for the season and one of the last to close. Sipapu is the seventh ski resort to open in the U.S. this season. ‘The slope conditions are not your normal early season conditions,’ Sipapu general manager John Paul Bradley said. ‘With the cold temps and natural snow adding to snowmaking efforts, my first run on Thumper today was a legitimate great run! We even had people camp out overnight to get first chair this a.m.’ Courtesy/Sipapu Resort
