Sipapu Ski Resort near Taos has received a foot of snow and crews were able to fire up the snow guns for the first time this season as they prepare for opening day, scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 17.
Wednesday at 10:20 p.m., the snowmaking crew began making snow for the first time this season — temperatures were perfect and they were able to have the snow guns going for more than 12 hours. With the foot of snow Mother Nature delivered, it provided the crew with an optimal window for snowmaking — the man made snow on top of natural snow helps insulate and preserve it. At peak production, Sipapu had 11 guns blowing snow on the trail, Thumper.
Don’t forget that kids age 10 and younger receive a free Power Kids ski pass at Sipapu. For more information, visit Sipapu.ski.
