COMMUNITY News:
National Public Radio calls her “one of the most compelling songwriters of our time”. Sav Buist is a singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and recording engineer who added the prestigious overall Grand Prize and First Place in the folk category for the 27th USA Songwriting Competition to her list of songwriting awards. She is the lead singer and songwriter for the wildly successful band, The Accidentals. Michigan native and current Nashville resident, Buist will bring her talent Nov. 12 to Los Alamos.
Live in Los Alamos will present Buist at SALA Event Center. Doors open at 5 p.m. and the show begins at 6 p.m. There will be dinner and drinks available.
Buist co-wrote the song “Michigan and Again”, which many in the “Great Lakes State” argue should be the official state song. Jonathan Lathrop, president of Live in Los Alamos, the non-profit that is hosting Buist, recalls being struck by the number of Michiganders who were wiping tears from their eyes when they saw Buist perform it in July.
“I was already mesmerized by this woman’s voice, musicianship and songwriting, but seeing the Michiganders respond to that song was something special,” Lathrop said of the show. “I thought, the folks in Los Alamos need to see this incredible talent.”
Because Buist will play at SALA, tickets will be limited. They can be purchased on liveinlosalamos.com or at the Los Alamos Schools Credit Union at 1010 Central Ave. to avoid a service fee. Dinner and drinks (beer and wine from Bathtub Row) will be available when doors open at 5 p.m.
