The Los Alamos Fire Department is continuing to collect donations for the families of the 19 firefighters tragically killed in the line of duty while fighting the Yarnell Hill Wildfire in Arizona a week ago.
They will collect donations and have the remembrance banner that can be signed at the next Summer Concert this Friday evening at Ashley Pond Park. There also is an account for donations that the County has set up at Los Alamos National Bank, which will remain open through Friday, July 19.
Residents interested in signing the banner can also stop by the LAFD Administration office on the second floor of 999 Central 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
To date, LAFD has collected $7,960 that will be sent to the families of the fallen firefighters through a special assistance fund set up by the United Way in Prescott, Ariz. LAFD would like to thank residents for their generous contributions.
