
Sun Country Golf House News:
ALBUQUERQUE — The Sun Country Golf House, home to New Mexico and West Texas’ governing bodies of professional and amateur golf, will be conducting the 6th annual “Shootout In The Desert” today, April 10 at The Canyon Club in Albuquerque.
The 9 a.m. shotgun start will feature top high school teams from around New Mexico and the City of El Paso, Texas for boys and girls providing a second-to-none experience for the participants and schools.
While the event is relatively new to the high school golf scene here in the area the Sun Country Golf House is not, conducting professional, amateur and junior golf championships for all abilities of play.
The long-term goal of the “Shootout” is to not only produce the top regular-season event in the state, but also to invite the top teams from every NMAA classification and El Paso to identify the top boys and girls high school golf teams in the region.

The Sun Country Golf House is made up of cooperating partners of golf within the borders of New Mexico and West Texas. The entities, the Sun Country PGA, the Sun Country Amateur Golf Association, the New Mexico Golf Tourism Alliance, the Sun Country Jr. Golf Foundation, and the Sun Country Junior Golf Tour, have essentially the same goal, to promote the game of golf in our area. Educating the public on the organizations, providing a great tournament schedule for Pros and Amateurs alike, executing a junior tour for youth golfers, making Sun Country a golfing destination for golfers outside our borders and generally improving and promoting the game of golf are the focuses of this collaboration.
