Sheriff Marco Lucero Issues Scam Alert

LACSO News:

Los Alamos County Sheriff Marco Lucero released an advisory today alerting the residents of Los Alamos County of a scam that has been reported to his office.

A person(s) is posing as a Los Alamos Sheriff’s Department deputy and calling local residents advising them that they failed to report for jury duty and deputies have a warrant for their arrest.

The caller advises the victim to pay a fine and their warrant will be quashed.

Lucero advises the community that this is a complete scam and asks anyone receiving a call of this nature to report it to 505.662.8222, adding that the Sheriff’s Office in cooperation with the Los Alamos Police Department is investigating this scam.
