SGR Pulls HB 50 Back To House Judiciary Committe

SANTA FE — Today, Rep. Stephanie Garcia Richard (D-Los Alamos) pulled HB 50 back into the House Judiciary Committee to allow for more input and consideration on the bill:

“I want to thank everyone who has reached out to talk about HB50. The goal of this important piece of legislation has always been to find a balance between increasing public safety while protecting the rights of law-abiding gun owners.

“In conversations with voters and my fellow Representatives, it is clear that we still have some more work to do to ensure we aren’t treading on individual rights. This is an issue I will continue to champion, but rather than risk trying to solve these shortcomings on the House Floor this week, I have decided to pull HB 50 back to House Judiciary to ensure we offer the least intrusive legislation on legal gun owners.

“I look forward to continuing to work with all interested parties to pass this critical piece of legislation to protect domestic violence victims and law enforcement.”
