SFNF Waives Fees Today For National Public Lands Day

SFNF News:

SANTA FE — The Santa Fe National Forest (SFNF) will waive fees at many day-use recreation sites for National Public Lands Day (NPLD) today, Sept. 28.

As the nation’s largest, single-day volunteer effort for public lands, NPLD is a great opportunity for more Americans to get outdoors and connect with their public lands. Use the National Environmental Education Foundation’s event-finder tool to find a National Public Lands Day volunteer opportunity near you.

The Forest Service participates in fee-free days with other federal agencies to encourage all to visit their public lands. The final fee-free day in 2024 will be Monday, Nov. 11, in honor of Veterans Day.

The theme for NPLD 2024 is “Together for Tomorrow”. From trail maintenance to tree planting, volunteers of all ages and abilities will roll up their sleeves and join forces for a common goal—stewarding America’s natural resources for future generations to enjoy.

If you plan to visit the Santa Fe National Forest over the weekend, know before you go. For updates on fee-free days, holidays, and SFNF news, visit the SFNF website and SFNF social media pages (Facebook and X).
