SANTA FE — All Santa Fe National Forest (SFNF) offices will be closed Monday, Oct. 9, in observance of Indigenous Peoples’ Day and Columbus Day. Offices will resume regular business hours Tuesday, Oct. 10.
The SFNF will also be closed Thursday, Oct. 12, for forest-wide employee training and development and will resume regular business hours the next day Friday, Oct. 13.
New Mexico is home to 23 sovereign tribes – 19 Pueblos, three Apache tribes and the Navajo Nation. Modern day national forests are often ancestral homelands to indigenous people. The SFNF commitment to shared stewardship includes working with tribal partners to improve forest health and resiliency across management boundaries.
