SFNF Offices Close July 3 In Observance Of Fourth

All Santa Fe National Forest offices and ranger stations will be closed Friday, July 3 in observance of the Independence Day holiday. Regular business hours will resume at 8 a.m. Monday, July 6.

Larger-than-usual numbers of visitors are expected on the Santa Fe National Forest during the Fourth of July weekend. Law enforcement, recreation staff and fire personnel will be on duty over the three-day weekend.

Although there are no fire restrictions on the Santa Fe National Forest, visitors to campgrounds and trails are asked to practice campfire safety and remember that fireworks are prohibited on public lands. For additional information, see Smokey Bear’s Campfire Safety Guide

Indications are that the southwestern monsoon season may arrive early this year.  Be alert to changing weather, which can bring flash flooding and hazardous road conditions.  Lightning is always a risk during thunderstorms. Check the National Weather Service’s lightning safety webpage for additional information.
