All SFNF Offices Close For 4th Of July Holiday 2 P.M. Friday

SFNF News:

SANTA FE – All Santa Fe National Forest (SFNF) offices, including the Supervisor’s Office in Santa Fe, will close at 2 p.m. Friday, July 2, and remain closed Monday, July 5, in observance of Independence Day.

SFNF offices will resume normal business hours Tuesday, July 6.

Fire personnel, law enforcement and recreation patrols will be on duty over the holiday weekend.

Although recent moisture lowered fire danger and the SFNF lifted Stage 1 fire restrictions June 30, visitors are urged to use extreme caution to reduce the risk of starting a wildfire. Fireworks are always prohibited on national forests.

If you do decide to have a campfire, build your campfire in an area cleared of vegetation. Never abandon or leave a campfire unattended. Always have plenty of water and a shovel nearby. When it’s time to leave, extinguish your campfire by drowning and stirring until it’s the consistency of a mud pie and cold to the touch.

If you plan to spend your holiday weekend on the national forest, please recreate responsibly, plan ahead, know before you go, and follow Leave No Trace principles.
