SFNF Issues Closure Order For Forest Road 10

SFNF News:

SANTA FE — The Santa Fe National Forest (SFNF) has issued a closure order for an 11-mile segment of Forest Road (FR) 10 to protect public health and safety while crews replace 24 culverts and resurface the road.

The closure order will be in effect until July 31 unless it is rescinded earlier.

The restricted area on FR 10 begins at the gate adjacent to the Paliza Group Campground and extends north approximately 11 miles to the gate at the boundary of the Sierra Los Pinos subdivision.

Federal, state and local officers, members of an organized rescue team or firefighting force, and any others authorized by Forest Service permit are exempt from the closure order.

Signs are posted to notify the public that this segment of FR 10 is closed to public entry. Violation of the closure order is a Class B misdemeanor punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000 for individuals and $10,000 for organizations, imprisonment of not more than six months, or both.

The closure order and map are available on the SFNF website. All current closure orders are posted on the Alerts and Notices page of the website.
