SFCO News:

The Santa Fe Community Orchestra’s (SFCO) Season Finale is 4 p.m. Sunday, June 7 at the Lensic Performing Arts Center.

This program includes works by Mozart, Elgar, Aragón, and Vivaldi, and features a collaboration with dancers from NDI New Mexico’s Team XCel.

The concert features Mozart’s Overture to Don Giovanni and the first movement of Vivaldi’s Concerto Grosso in D minor, Op. 3, No. 11. The Vivaldi will be presented with original choreography by Choreographer Amy D. Compton-Schultz performed by NDI New Mexico’s Team XCel.

During the concert, SFCO Music Director Oliver Prezant and Compton-Schultz will briefly discuss the music and the choreography prior to a second performance of the dance piece, giving the audience and performers an opportunity to deepen their experience of the music and dance.

The program also features the world premiere of Chaco Variations by Jared Aragón, winner of the SFCO’s 2014-2015 Composition Competition.

Aragon attended Eastern New Mexico University in Portales and now lives in Fayetteville Ark. where he is completing a master’s degree in composition.

The concert concludes with Edward Elgar’s beloved Enigma Variations—a series of musical portraits of his friends, eccentricities and all, with the final portrait being that of the composer himself.

SFCO Music Director Oliver Prezant conducts. For more information, call 505.466.4879 or visit www.sfco.org.
