Seven LAHS Seniors Sign Onto NMSU eSports Team

LAPS News:

Seven members of the Los Alamos High School Secret City Esports team signed letters of intent to attend New Mexico State University as members of their Esports team.

Jasmine Heft, Philip Smith, Sirena Quezada, Astra Vigil, Alice Thieme (previous player), Mars Brunette, and Freddy Broyles are headed to NMSU after successful high school Esports careers.

Jasmine was the captain for Marvel Rivals, and used to be part of the Smash Bros Team. Philip plays Mario Kart and League of Legends. Sirena was the captain of Splatoon Team, and played Overwatch. Astra played Overwatch and Marvel Rivals. Alice was on the Splatoon team, but transferred to La Cueva this year. Mars Brunette was on Overwatch and Smash Bros. Freddy was the JV captain for Rocket League, as well as playing Marvel Rivals and Overwatch.

This year’s Esports team earned first place overall in the Class 4A Team State Championship. The Rocket League team came in First. Splatoon and Ralston came in Third, and Luke Patterson came in second for Hearthstone. The team was recently ranked the number three program in the United States by USA Today. This is the second year in a row making the top 25.
