See Sandhill Cranes And Read With A Ranger Feb. 2

NMHS News:

Los Luceros offers extended hours from sunrise to sunset on the first Sunday of each month. This is a great time of year for visitors to see wintering birds including sandhill cranes, bald eagles, magpies, red-tailed hawks, mourning doves, ravens, crows, juncos, and various species of finches. Guests can also explore the visitor center, capilla (chapel), Victorian cottage, guesthouse, and farmyard. Trails meander around the landscape and to the Rio Grande.

The site will offer “Read with a Ranger” at 11 a.m., Sunday Feb. 2 at Los Luceros Historic Site. Join Ranger Kara for a story time in the community room. She will read the children’s book “Groundhog’s Day Off” written by Robb Pearlman, which tells the story of a groundhog who is tired of predicting the weather every year. Ranger Kara will lead a related craft activity after reading the story. All ages are welcome. Children must be accompanied by a guardian.

Los Luceros offers a unique opportunity for people to explore and enjoy the site from dawn until dusk on the first Sunday of each month. Entrance is free for New Mexico residents with ID. Regular admission for non-residents is $7/adult and free to children 16 and younger.
