The stars aligned that day six years ago when Scott Aragon began his career at Enterprise Bank & Trust.
“I was working in retail banking as a teller before shifting over to the wealth management division,” Aragon said. “I was personally investing in the cryptocurrency market and stock market, and enjoyed learning about all of the investment and retirement strategies people can use to essentially grow their savings.”
Aragon has a knack for numbers and dates.
“My first day on the job was Aug. 12, 2019. I learned about the wealth management team, applied, and following the interview process, I was accepted on the team, and that was on Feb. 14, 2022,” he said. “The team is great and I really enjoy the cooperation we share between all of the branches … we are in tune with each other in meeting all of our clients’ needs.”
Aragon credits bank officials with providing excellent guidance to him since he joined the wealth management team nearly four years ago, including Enterprise Bank & Trust President of the Los Alamos Region, Liddie Martinez and Senior Vice President, Wealth Advisor Rado Georgiev, CFA.
“Rado is a great mentor to me, and Liddie is the same way. They always look out for me and help me navigate difficult situations,” he said.
Martinez described the qualities that contribute to Aragon’s successful fit on the wealth management team at the bank.
“Scott’s friendly manner and quiet calmness are key factors in his ability to develop customized solutions for our clients,” Martinez said. “Whether it is troubleshooting an investment misstep or brainstorming a strategy, his steady approach and focus on research make him a valuable resource for both clients and colleagues.”
Georgiev highlighted qualities Aragon possesses, which he explained are essential in banking and wealth management.
“Scott has qualities that are essential in banking and wealth management. He always acts with integrity and responsibility, and truly cares about our clients,” Georgiev said. “His computer programming knowledge is on a whole other level. We are lucky to have him!”
Aragon, who is completing his B.S. degree in business and accounting, said he strives to provide his clients with the comfort that their money is safe and growing, because this is their life savings.
“It’s always easy to work with clients when the market is trending upward,” he said. “It’s difficult when there’s an event adversely affecting the market, but that’s exactly what we do here – we plan for our clients to do well even when the market pulls back.”
Aragon gives the organizational structure of the bank high marks, describing it as very supportive and encouraging of the employees and allowing them opportunities to grow within the company.
Born in Las Vegas, N.M., he moved to San Diego in 1988, back to Las Vegas in 2010, and to Santa Fe in 2018. He is the first in his family to enter the banking business. He has four siblings. His mom was a homemaker, and his father, Dr. Dennis E. Aragon, was a dentist for nearly four decades in Las Vegas.
“My father was a family dentist from 1984 until he retired in 2023,” Aragon said. “He was very well liked and very well trusted and so many people, including myself, were disappointed when he retired. He is similar to some of my clients who are very good at what they do, but not so knowledgeable about finances.
He and his wife married on Leap Day, Feb. 29, 2020. They are expecting their first child this month, a baby girl, due on Monday, Aug. 25. They live in Santa Fe but plan to purchase a home in Los Alamos.
“We think the Los Alamos community is beautiful and look forward to moving here soon,” he said.
