Join the Bradbury Science Museum and the Los Alamos Creative District for Science On Tap at 5:30 p.m., Monday, Nov. 18 at projectY cowork, 150 Central Park Square.

This On Tap will feature a conversation with LANL Archaeologist Cyler Conrad about ancestral pueblo turkey management on the Pajarito Plateau.

Turkeys are a significant component of Ancestral, and Modern, Pueblo life in the northern Rio Grande. This talk focuses on discussing on-going compliance-based research at Los Alamos National Laboratory that examines past human-turkey relationships in this region, and what these relationships mean for our long-term compliance program.

Dr. Cyler Conrad is an archaeologist and the Archaeology Technical Lead at Los Alamos. His current research focuses on understanding Ancestral Pueblo husbandry, management and domestication of turkeys in the American Southwest/Mexican Northwest. Dr. Conrad has experience working in Thailand, California, and New Mexico. He is the author or co-author of over seventeen peer-reviewed papers and/or book chapters, and has received funding from the National Science Foundation and the National Geographic Society, among others. In his current position at LANL he helps manage the nearly 2,000 archaeological sites present at the Lab and ensures federal compliance with cultural resource laws and regulations.

Science On Tap is sponsored by the Bradbury Science Museum in partnership with the Los Alamos Creative District and hosted at projectY cowork.
