Schools Hosting Important Community Meeting Saturday

The students, school staff, parents and community are invited to attend a “Strategic Plan” Update from 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday April 21 at the Speech Theater of Los Alamos High School.

Strategic Plan Thrust Captains will provide a briefing on the progress made of the work completed over the past seven months.

Thrust Captains will also provide an update on the path forward in five key areas, including:

  •  Effective Teachers
  •  Aligned Resources and Support Systems

School and community involvement is important in creating a pathway to a world class system that prepares all students to be skilled, confident learners who are ready to succeed in a rapidly changing global environment.

Dr. Kevin Honnell, LAPS School Board President will welcome attendees and explain the desired outcomes of the gathering.

School Superintendent Gene Schmidt will share progress made on the plan thus far.

Linda Anderman, LANL Community Programs Office, will lead a discussion on:

1.  How do you want to stay informed?

2.  How do you want to help and get involved?

Dawn Venhaus, LAPS School Board Vice President will close the gathering by asking, “Where are we going from here?”

The strategic planning session is planned for just two hours. Participating in this event will help shape the next five years of the district’s goal to become one of the best schools in the nation.

Please make time to share your voice.

Again, the strategic planning report to the community will be 10 a.m. – noon, Saturday April 21 at the LAHS Speech Theater.
