School/System Leaders Join Teach Plus To Learn From 7 Innovative Schools Changing Student Outcomes

ALBUQUERQUE — New Mexico’s school and system leaders will gather Friday, July 14, for Teach Plus’s #NMOutcomesThroughInnovation convening to learn from seven public schools across the state whose innovative approaches, rooted in their communities’ needs, are improving teaching and learning.

Through the convening and the accompanying report, Teach Plus is bringing these schools and New Mexico’s education community together to facilitate the learning of innovations and best practices and their adoption across schools and districts in the state.

Teach Plus’s innovation work focuses on holistically understanding New Mexico’s students and communities and listening to the teachers who serve them on a daily basis.

For the 2023 report and convening, Teach Plus identified seven innovative schools in three categories:

  • Innovative instructional practices: Practices focused on student-centered, individualized instruction designed to increase student engagement and ownership of their learning. (Gallup High School, Loma Linda Elementary, VOZ Collegiate Preparatory Charter School)

  • Innovative support systems: Systems focused on developing effective educators and providing differentiated, targeted support based on teachers’ needs. (Gilbert Sena Charter High School, Mesa Middle School)
