COUNTY News:
The final Hawk Hangout of the school year was held May 18. This event was in collaboration with Los Alamos County Recreation, Teen Court, Library, Police and Social Service departments, while partnering with Los Alamos Middle School, YMCA, JJAB, Youth Activity Center, LANL Foundation and Los Alamos Arts Council.
This collaboration is an effort to provide a safe space for socialization for the middle school youth in the community and is free to students.
Incoming 7th graders were invited to attend the May event and students from all five elementary schools attended as well as 7th and 8th graders. It was a cold and rainy day, so activities were set up both inside the courthouse and around Ashley Pond.
Details:
- 100 Kites were made;
- 180 Bags of popcorn were eaten;
- 500 buttons were made;
- 500 ice cream bars were served;
- 96 kids played laser tag;
- 29 adult volunteers; and
- 341 kids attended!
