Smoke billows from one of four fires that ignited overnight near Pipeline Road and Quemazon Trail. Los Alamos Battalion Chief Steve Saiz is the on-duty Battalion Chief overseeing LAFD’s response in assisting the forest service to knock down the fires. The sizes are estimated at under an acre each, Deputy Fire Chief Steve Dawald said. He said lightning most likely is the cause. ‘We have ground crews from LAFD and air resources from Bandelier and Albuquerque working the fires now,’ Chief Dawald said, adding that more air resources have been ordered. The Los Alamos Reservoir is being used by air resources and the public is advised to avoid that area. Photo by John McHale/ladailypost.com
