Scenes From 37th Street Playground Ribbon Cutting

With some help from Aspen Elementary School students, Los Alamos County Council Chair Randall Ryti snips the ribbon to officially open the 37th Street Playground Tuesday afternoon. The new playground has several features to ensure accessibility for everyone including ramps leading down to the playground and a mobility swing, which was a suggestion from a local Girls Scouts troop. ‘Having community voices really drive the process I think is a really important thing to highlight and working with the Community Services Department’s master plan,’ Ryti said. ‘It made the 37th Street Playground a healthy, enjoyable part of kids’ upbringing for years to come.’ Photo by Kirsten Laskey/ladailypost.com

Los Alamos County Parks Superintendent Wendy Parker recognizes County staff and contractors who helped make the 37th Street Playground possible during the ribbon cutting ceremony Tuesday. She added that this playground is ‘part of our integrated master plan and our ADA accessibility (plan) – making sure anyone with mobility issues has a way and path forward to enjoy our facilities … se we are really pleased to have you here today (to show) it was definitely worth the project …’ Photo by Kirsten Laskey/ladailypost.com
