Los Alamos MainStreet and Creative District News:

Los Alamos MainStreet and Creative District hosted the annual Holiday Lights Parade Saturday evening on Central Avenue in downtown Los Alamos as part of Los Alamos WinterFest weekend.

Parade Judges included Los Alamos County Councilor Denise Derkacs, Acting Superintendent of Los Alamos Public Schools Jennifer Guy and Assistant General Manager Rob Hipwood of Bathtub Row Brewing Co-op. The judges determined that the Los Alamos Police Department (LAPD) entry float earned the top prize for the parade, which had a “TV & Film Holiday” theme.

The LAPD float featured Ralphie with his new Red Ryder BB gun out to protect the citizens of Los Alamos from Black Bart and his outlaws. The entire movie of “A Christmas Story” came to life as they strolled down MainStreet.

Runners up were New Beginnings Fellowship and Wiemann Wealth Strategies/Raymond James.

The New Beginnings entry was a tribute to some of the Christmas greats, including Snoopy and Charlie Brown, Elf and the Grinch. Wiemann Wealth Strategies/Raymond James presented a “Holiday Home Movies” themed float: “remembering the past to plan for the future”.

Los Alamos MainStreet thanks 2021 WinterFest sponsors, Los Alamos County, Enterprise Bank & Trust, as well as Freedom Church Los Alamos for handing out free hot cocoa to parade attendees.
