SBDC Offers Bookkeeping, Tax and Marketing Workshops

The UNM-Los Alamos Small Business Development Center is providing the following workshops:

Basic Bookkeeping
08/28/12 Tuesday 1-4 p.m.
08/30/12 Thursday 1-4 p.m.
Small Business Center Fee: $50.
The Basic Bookkeeping Workshop will be a two-part series for small business owners and managers looking for a basic course in bookkeeping essentials. It will meet over a two day period, with three hour sessions per day. The material covered will include: Debits/Credits; Assets, Liabilities, Equity; the Accounting Equation; Revenues and Expenses; the Journal-Account Balances; the Ledger-Accounts Chart; Adjustments; Financial Statements-Balance Sheet and Income Statement; Petty Cash; Payroll and Closing the books.

Information Session for CRS Taxpayers
09/06/12 Thursday 1-3 p.m.
Small Business Center FREE
This workshop covers the basic taxes and how to file reports properly to avoid penalties. The NMTRD will explain Gross Receipts Tax, compensating tax, withholding tax and the proper use of Non-Taxable Transaction Certificates (NTTCs). Presenters will also discuss taxable and nontaxable transactions and basic record keeping.

Many businesses and organizations struggle with creating a marketing plan.
