The Santa Fe Women’s Ensemble’s final video of our 2020–2021 season will be “In Remembrance: A Commemoration of Those Who Have Died During COVID-19”, premiering at 3 p.m., June 20. During the past 15 months, many of us have lost loved ones, but, sadly, we have had to remember them without the traditional in-person gatherings to express our sympathies. This video is intended to reflect upon and remember those who have passed, as a memorial and a celebration of their lives.

This fourth video features the poignant and stunning “In Remembrance” by Eleanor Daley, based on an equally poignant poem; Z. Randall Stroope’s uplifting “Lux Aeterna”; and a beautiful new composition, “In Paradisum,” by Z. Randall Stroope. In the composer’s own words, “During the COVID-19 pandemic—like millions of others—I felt helpless, full of unanswered questions, and most of all, profoundly sad for the thousands of families who lost a loved one—a son, a mother, a daughter, a father, a grandparent or someone else in their family or community circle. I wrote this work as a gift to honor those who lost their lives in the pandemic and the families left behind. It is the smallest of contributions, but perhaps will bring comfort and moments of peace.”

Of note: The pieces were recently recorded following COVID safe protocols, with the singers wearing masks. It was the group’s first opportunity to sing together since the pandemic began.

Admission: This video offering is free. All are invited to view it and share it with friends and loved ones.
