SANTA FE — Santa Fe Pro Musica begins its String Works Series at 3 p.m. Oct. 23 at St. Francis Auditorium (107 W. Palace Ave. in Santa Fe) with the Quartetto Di Cremona.

The program includes works by Boccherini, Verdi, Puccini and Respighi.  

About Quartetto Di Cremona:

This Italian ensemble performs an all-Italian program on rare Italian instruments from the 17th and 18th centuries. Quartetto Di Cremona has performed at international music festivals including Beethovenfest (Bonn), Bozar Festival (Brussels), Festival of Turku (Finland), Kammermusik Gemeinde (Hannover), Perth Festival (Australia), and in the world’s great concert halls including the Konzerthaus in Berlin and Wigmore Hall in London. They won the Franco Gulli Award (2002), Borletti–Buitoni Fellowship (2005), ECHO  Klassik (2017, Germany), and the International Classical Music Award (2018). They formed in 2000 while the members were students at the Walter Stauffer Academy in Cremona, Italy. They are currently artists-in-residence at the Società del Quartetto (Milan) and at the Academy of Santa Cecilia (Rome). 

The ensemble is named after the city of Cremona, Italy, considered the birthplace of the violin in the workshops of the masters Amati, Guarneri, and Stradivari.
