Santa Fe Opera Celebrates 70th Season In 2027: Three New Productions, Beloved Revival, And American Premiere

The Santa Fe Opera celebrates its 70th Season with tales of power and pleasure, featuring works by Puccini, Rossini, Mozart, Janáček and a new opera about Elizabeth I and Mary Queen of Scots by composer Brett Dean ­­– all in the most beautiful outdoor theater on earth! 

A Trio of American Premieres!

Continuing its long-standing commitment to innovation, the Santa Fe Opera will present an extraordinary trio of American premieres over the next three seasons: 2026 brings Lili Elbe with music by Tobias Picker and libretto by Aryeh Lev Stollman; 2027 will feature Of One Blood, with music by Brett Dean and libretto by Heather Betts; and in 2028 we present Enemigo del pueblo, with music by Francisco Coll, based on the play An Enemy of the People by Henrik Ibsen. 2028 is also the year which marks the 200th anniversary of Ibsen’s birth.
