Santa Fe Farmers’ Market Institute Launches Mobile Market Season With Community Partnership Event

SFFMI News:

SANTA FE — The Santa Fe Farmers’ Market Institute is launching its 2026 Tianguis Mobile Market season in partnership with the Tierra Real Neighborhood Association, bringing together residents, volunteers, and local organizations for a day centered on service, food access, and community connection.

From 1–3 p.m. Saturday, May 16, the Tierra Real Mobile Home Community will host a free public community meal and “Tianguis Fiesta” launch celebration, marking the start of the 2026 Tianguis Mobile Market season. This event is free and open to the public and offers a chance for the broader Santa Fe community to gather, connect, and celebrate the return of the mobile market.

Earlier in the day, from 9 a.m.–1 p.m., residents, volunteers, and Institute staff will also participate in a neighborhood cleanup at Tierra Real Community Park, focusing on trash removal and light landscaping to enhance the shared space.

The Tierra Real neighborhood is one of several regular stops for the Tianguis Mobile Market, a program that expands access to fresh, locally grown food across Santa Fe and surrounding communities. By prioritizing low-income and low food access neighborhoods, the Mobile Market brings nutritious, affordable food directly into communities while connecting Northern New Mexico farmers and ranchers with the people they serve.

Through administration of programs such as SNAP, Double Up Food Bucks, the Farmers Market Nutrition Program, and food voucher initiatives, the Institute works to reduce barriers to healthy food while strengthening the local food economy. These programs support families facing food access challenges and bring new customers to local producers, ensuring that incentive dollars flow directly back to farmers and ranchers across the region.

New this year, the Mobile Market will directly accept SNAP benefits, offering a 50% discount on all purchases made with an EBT card. This streamlined approach removes barriers and makes it easier for residents to access fresh, nutritious food close to home.

By expanding partnerships and bringing services directly into neighborhoods, the Institute continues its support of a more equitable and resilient local food system that benefits both producers and families.

This continued partnership with the Tierra Real Neighborhood Association highlights the power of community collaboration in strengthening neighborhoods. Together, these efforts expand food access, support local economies, and help nourish Northern New Mexico.
