Santa Fe Community Foundation Awards $445,000 To Nonprofits In 2022 Fall Grants Cycle

SANTA FE — The Santa Fe Community Foundation (SFCF) announced it has awarded $445,000 in grants to 38 nonprofits as a part of its 2022 fall grants cycle. 

Through its grantmaking, the Foundation seeks to fund a broad range of nonprofit organizations in Santa Fe, Rio Arriba, San Miguel and Mora counties that are addressing unmet community needs, tracking results and are actively collaborating and aligning their work with other community partners, including the Foundation, to improve outcomes and promote equity.

“This year’s grantees have listened and responded to both ongoing and emerging community needs with agility and adaptive leadership,” SFCF President & CEO Christopher Goett said. “We are incredibly proud to be their partners in building a more vibrant, healthy, and equitable New Mexico.”

In 2022, the Santa Fe Community Foundation awarded a total of $65,000 to five grantees in the area of Animal Welfare. The grants, which range from $10,000 – $15,000, support nonprofits that provide services and/or advocacy to protect both domestic and wild animals by addressing population control, cruelty prevention, wellbeing, and the reintroduction/conservation of native New Mexico species.

Animal Welfare Grantees:

  • The Horse Shelter;
  • Kindred Spirits Animal Sanctuary;
  • New Mexico Horse Rescue at Walkin N Circles Ranch;
  • New Mexico Wildlife Center; and
  • Santa Fe Animal Shelter & Humane Society.

In 2022, the Santa Fe Community Foundation awarded a total of $65,000 to six grantees in the area of Arts & Culture. The grants, which range from $5,000 – $15,000, support nonprofits that work to improve sense of community; openness and acceptance of the community toward people of diverse backgrounds; diverse participation in art and cultural community programs and events; and/or the preservation and strengthening of cultural heritage, traditions, and a creative economy.

Arts & Culture Grantees:

  • ArtWorks – Partners in Education for the SFPS;
  • Moving Arts Española;
  • New Mexico Gay Men’s Chorus;
  • New Mexico Performing Arts Society;
  • NM Historic Sites – Los Luceros; and
  • Queen Bee Music Association.

In 2022, the Santa Fe Community Foundation awarded a total of $55,000 to five grantees in the area of Civic & Economic Opportunities. The grants, which range from $5,000 – $15,000, support nonprofits that work toward improving workforce development and job creation; open government; and/or social and economic justice.

Civic & Economic Opportunities Grantees:

  • Literacy Volunteers of Santa Fe;
  • Mora Creative Council/Mora MainStreet;
  • NMCAN;
  • NM Foundation for Open Government; and
  • Searchlight NM.

In 2022, the Santa Fe Community Foundation awarded a total of $205,000 to 18 grantees in the area of Education. The grants, which range from $5,000 to $15,000, support nonprofits that work to improve school readiness; reading proficiency; math proficiency; high school graduation rates; and/or opportunity youth engagement.

Education Grantees:

  • Breakthrough Santa Fe;
  • Climate Advocates Voces Unidas (CAVU);
  • Communities in Schools New Mexico;
  • Dual Language Education of New Mexico;
  • El Rito Public Library;
  • Embudo Valley Library & Community Center;
  • Emdudo Valley Tutoring Association;
  • Growing Up New Mexico: The Early Childhood Partnership;
  • May Center for Learning;
  • Mother Tongue Project;
  • Ojo Sarco Community Center;
  • Performance Santa Fe;
  • River Source Inc.;
  • Rockey Mountain Youth Corps;
  • Santa Fe Children’s Museum;
  • Santa Fe Youth Symphony;
  • Think NM; and
  • Truchas Services Center.

In 2022, the Santa Fe Community Foundation awarded a total of $55,000 to four grantees in the area of Environment. The grants, which range from $10,000 – $15,000, support nonprofits that work to improve local food self-sufficiency; land, air, and water health; and/or energy from renewable resources.

  • Conservation Voters of New Mexico – Education Fund;
  • New Mexico Voices for Children;
  • Nuclear Watch New Mexico; and
  • Quivira Coalition, Inc.
