SANTA FE — The Santa Fe Community Foundation is pleased to announce it has awarded $1,045,000 in 2025 Community Grants to 67 nonprofits serving Santa Fe, Mora, Rio Arriba, and San Miguel counties. This marks the Foundation’s largest round of grantmaking through its Community Grants program to date.

“This historic investment reflects our long-term commitment to our nonprofit partners and their work supporting the diversity and strength of northern New Mexico communities,” Christopher Goett, President & CEO of the Santa Fe Community Foundation said. “At a time when many nonprofits are navigating uncertainty and increased demand, this funding helps provide stability, strengthen local solutions, and ensure essential services continue across our region.”

The Santa Fe Community Foundation conducts two strong and democratic grant cycles through its Community Grants program each year — one in the spring and one in the fall — supported by two staff members and an all-volunteer grants committee. The spring grant cycle supports nonprofits working to improve outcomes in two fields of interest:

Civic & Economic Opportunities and Health & Human Services. The fall grant cycle supports nonprofits working to improve outcomes in four fields of interest: Animal Welfare, Arts & Culture, Education, and Environment. All Community Grants range from $5,000 – $20,000.

2025 Community Grants

Animal Welfare

Animal Welfare grants support organizations that are working to protect both domestic and wild animals through population control; cruelty prevention; well-being; service animal support; and/or the reintroduction and conservation of native New Mexico species. This year, the Santa Fe Community Foundation awarded a total of $70,000 to five nonprofits in this field of interest:

• Assistance Dogs of the West
• Española Humane
• Friends of the Estancia Valley Animals
• Northern New Mexico Street Homeless Animal Project
• Santa Fe Raptor Center

Arts & Culture

Arts & Culture grants support organizations that are working to improve sense of community; openness and acceptance of the community toward people of diverse backgrounds; diverse participation in art and cultural community programs and events; and/or the preservation and strengthening of cultural and historical heritage, traditions, and a creative economy. This year, the Santa Fe Community Foundation awarded a total of $125,000 to eight nonprofits in this field of interest:

• Cornerstones Community Partnerships
• Embudo Valley Library & Community Center
• Española Valley Fiber Arts Center
• The Exodus Ensemble
• Life Circle
• Meadow City Academy of Music
• Mesa Prieta Petroglyph Project

Civic & Economic Opportunities

Civic & Economic Opportunities grants support organizations that are working to improve workforce development and job creation; open government; community engagement; social and economic justice, and/or support of hourly workers. This year, the Santa Fe Community Foundation awarded a total of $55,000 to three nonprofits in this field of interest::

• Women’s Economic Self-Sufficiency Team (WESST)
• YouthWorks

Education

Education grants support organizations that are working to improve school readiness; reading proficiency and math proficiency; college and career pathway access; opportunity youth engagement; and/or the education ecosystem through policy advocacy. This year, the Santa Fe Community Foundation awarded a total of $250,000 to 15 nonprofits in this field of interest:

Environment grants support organizations that are working to address climate change through efforts that protect or improve watershed and water quality; preserve open space; remediate land; advance energy from renewable sources; support environmental justice; and/or create sustainable food production systems. This year, the Santa Fe Community Foundation awarded a total of $100,000 to six nonprofits in this field of interest:
