SFAS News:
Santa Fe Animal Shelter is hopping, not only as it relates to puppy and kitten season but getting ready for Easter fun too.
Trevor Stone, the SFAS Off-site Adoptions Coordinator, is part of the fun too. Trevor’s job is to rally volunteers, their favorite adoption dogs, and a handful of puppies for mobile adoption events throughout Santa Fe and northern New Mexico.
Mobile adoption events allow pets looking for their forever homes to meet their people. Stone along with volunteers are eager to answer questions about adopting a pet, supporting the shelter, or becoming a volunteer themselves. Since Stone arrived, mobile adoption opportunities have increased, and he expects to add even more to the community.
“The things I enjoy most about adoption events are the opportunities I get, to be out in the community, meeting everyone I can, and seeing more and more of Santa Fe every time I get the opportunity to book a new venue,” Stone said. “Seeing new things and helping pets get adopted make for the perfect 9-5. I really am blessed to go home every night feeling like I did something I loved for a living.”
Santa Fe Animal Shelter has a variety of upcoming off-site events. They include:
- April 18, at the Santa Fe RailYard under the water tower
- April 19, there is an Easter egg hunt going down and the puppy wagon will be in front of the shelter for an off-site like atmosphere and everyone should come.
- April 26 The Critters and Me
- April 27 Teca Tu
Mobile adoption events are always willing to accept donations of toys and treats to take back to the shelter. April 19 is a PAW-TY from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., with an actual egg hunt at 2 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Santa Fe Animal Shelter is located at 100 Caja Del Rio Road and you can check out their residents on their website at www.sfhumanesociety.org or call 505.983.4309.
