Sandia Peak Tramway Celebrates 60 Years With Street Cars & Cable Cars

AAIBMF News:

ALBUQUERQUE — We’re proud to celebrate a true icon of Albuquerque—Sandia Peak Tramway—on its 60th anniversary!

For six decades, the Tramway has carried over 12 million visitors and locals alike to breathtaking heights, offering unforgettable views of our city and the stunning Sandia Mountains. It’s more than a ride—it’s an experience that captures the spirit of adventure and wonder that defines our region.

As part of this milestone celebration, we encourage you to plan a visit and take part in the festivities. Don’t miss the exciting Route 66 Car Show Series, where classic cars and nostalgic charm come together in a uniquely New Mexican setting.

Take your own ride on the tramway and enjoy a relaxing hike on the mountain.

Elevate your experience even further with a reservation to dine at TEN 3, the Tramway’s signature mountaintop restaurant. With incredible cuisine and panoramic views, it’s the perfect way to make your visit truly memorable.

At the Anderson Abruzzo International Balloon Museum Foundation, we celebrate the people, places, and experiences that make Albuquerque soar. We’re honored to recognize the Sandia Peak Tramway’s legacy and invite you to be part of its continued story.

Here’s to 60 years—and many more to come!
