Business News:
Samizdat Bookstore and Teahouse is launching a new membership program. Members will get one book every month. For $20 per month, members of the Sonnet Society get a book of their choice from all in-store books (up to a $30 list price).
They can also join the Sonnet Society by choosing to give one free book to the community every month, thanks to the help of a local social service organization. For $50 per month, members of the Codex Consortium get a monthly book as well as 10 percent off all books and 20 percent off all signed editions. Visit ko-fi.com/samizdat to join as a member.
Samizdat staff said they are amazed and humbled by the overwhelming amount of support the community has shown the business since it was announced that the bookstore and teahouse was considering closing. Thanks to the public’s support, the business is staying open for now and is hard at work considering options for how it can adjust its business model to be more robust in the longer term.
Samizdat Bookstore and Teahouse at 174 Central Park Square is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays. Learn more at @samizdatbookstore on Facebook, @samizdat_bookstore on Instagram, and at samizdatbookstore.com (where special orders online can be made to pick up in store).
