SALA Event Center welcomes the community to a week filled with inspiring films and engaging events, offering something for everyone.
This week’s movie lineup is headlined by Blink, a heartwarming tale of the Pelletier family, who embark on a global adventure as three of their children prepare for vision loss due to a rare disorder. Audiences will follow the family as they embrace the beauty of the world on their once-in-a-lifetime journey, savoring unforgettable experiences while they can still see. Showtimes for Blink are 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.
Alongside Blink, the action-packed Venom: The Last Dance hits the screen, where Eddie Brock and his symbiote, Venom, face a dangerous new challenge. The film delves into the struggle between good and evil, as Venom must make a final stand against an overwhelming threat, testing the bond between Eddie and the symbiote like never before. Venom showtimes mirror those of Blink— 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.
SALA’s Wiemann-Wealth Classics series continues this week with Alfred Hitchcock’s Vertigo, a timeless psychological thriller exploring obsession, guilt, and identity. Starring James Stewart and Kim Novak, Vertigo is a masterful portrayal of a detective’s descent into madness, driven by his fixation with a woman he’s been hired to follow. Don’t miss this classic at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.
In addition to its film offerings, SALA is hosting several community events. At 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, the UNM-Los Alamos and SBDC Business Scholars’ Luncheon will focus on how to mentor employees effectively. Thursday, Oct. 24 will feature two community forums: the N3B Environmental Management Cleanup Forum at 6 p.m., and also at 6 p.m. a Plutonium Pit Production Community Briefing and Discussion, PM, offering insights and updates on important local environmental and production issues.
Movie lovers can also indulge in SALA’s unique Slice & Cinema experience, where attendees can enjoy a delicious slice of pizza while watching films, available at 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday.
