Saint Job of Pochaiv Orthodox Church’s holiday cookie fundraiser was a great success. We sold 100 boxes of cookies and raised almost $2,500. This year all the proceeds from the sales were donated to a new charity centered in Tularosa called Foxhole Homes.
Foxhole homes aims to provide our homeless military veterans with low-cost, sustainable, community oriented housing. Working on the earthship model of Taos fame, they use recycled and reused materials and alternative building techniques to keep construction costs at a minimum while keeping their environmental impact as small as possible.

Each house will be near energy self-sufficient and will include a greenhouse for food production and water recycling systems. This year’s donation will pay for the rain gutters, floor system, and kitchen in their first completed home.
