Rotarian and STARS President Laura Loy shared some good news with the Rotary Club of Los Alamos during the club’s regular meeting Tuesday at the golf course. The July 25 Fiesta Los Alamos fundraiser at Fuller Lodge, raised more than $12,000 to help provide lodging to parents whose children are in the hospital in Juarez, Mexico. Due to poverty, the children’s parents cannot afford lodging. STARS members and the El Camino Real Rotary Club in El Paso, Texas, have teamed up to offer these parents shelter. ‘It was wildly successful,’ Loy said, adding that more than 200 people attended and the fundraiser sold out.
